What do I do about my Outlook Express stuff on my Windows XP computer when getting new Windows 7 pooter?
Looks as though Outlook Express isn't on Windows 7. On the new Helpdesk computer at the extension office, they have Outlook on Windows 7.
What have some of you done to convert? Bringing in Outlook Express stuff into Outlook seems relatively easy. Then maybe backup Outlook and use it on the new pooter?
There's also Windows Live Mail. Appears you have to convert to it on the old pooter and then back it up and restore it to new pooter.
Kinda confusing. _________________ Ralph

Done some research. We also love the Outlook calendar. I know that Outlook Express folders and address book can be moved to Outlook 2003 because I did the folders part accidentally on this machine and have put my address book from here on the extension office computer when it had Outlook 2003.
So, looks as though I may have to bite the bullet and buy Outlook 2010 and load her Outlook 2003 stuff onto it.
Other choice seems to be MS Mail, but does it have a calendar and ability to somehow receive the Outlook Express or Outlook folders and address list?
They recently put a new computer into the helpdesk office. I'm checking to find out what was done to get all our folders into it. I can easily check whether they have Outlook 2010.
Anyone know any special deals on Outlook 2010? It's not included in Windows 7. _________________ Ralph

Anyone use CostCaptain.com for software? Outlook 2010 is only $53 vs. $139 retail on it. _________________ Ralph

Got one vote for Incredimail.
You apparently have to load your Outlook stuff into it on your old computer and then load Incredimail onto your Windows 7 computer.
Anyone using it? _________________ Ralph

My cousin says Windows Live Mail has everything that Outlook has. Found a couple good web sites that tell how to import data, etc.
My InCredimail user isn't sure about a calendar. _________________ Ralph

I have Windows Live Mail working on CJ's old computer. Loading the Outlook Express stuff was automatic, but getting the Outlook calendar into it took some doing. Now all I have to do is figure out what to save, etc. to be able to load it into her new computer.
Loading Outlook calendar stuff from her calendar into it required the use of a web page called "outlook2ical". Just follow very carefully all the steps he has there, and you can exactly duplicate your calendar stuff from Outlook in Win Live Mail.
Win Live Mail works in Win 7. Outlook Express nor Outlook are supplied with it. You can buy Outlook 2010 for additional money for Win 7, but Win Live Mail looks just like it. _________________ Ralph

One of our MGs, a retired computer specialist, says he's using Outlook 2003 on Win 7. Works fine. _________________ Ralph

I put my wife's e-mail on Outlook. Imported all her stuff from Outlook Express. Uninstalled Windows Live Essentials stuff.
Turned out the new computer in the helpdesk room is loaded with Win XP and Office 2003.
Think I'll uninstall the new Office stuff from my wife's new computer and put Office 2003 on it, based the other MG's experience with it working fine in Win 7. I really didn't want her to get confused with that docx stuff, etc. in the new Office Suite anyway. We've had 2 or 3 MGs send docx stuff around and caused us communication problems. _________________ Ralph
