I installed a steel Werner folding attic stairs in the garage ceiling six years ago replacing an old rickety wooden one and it has performed well till yesterday. The cast aluminum hinge between the lower and middle folding sections broke as I was exiting the attic. So I get out the manual and it doesn't say anything about replacement parts, so I email Werner Customer Service for help. They email me back with a phone number to call which I did. Told them the model number and they said a new lower section with hinges would be in the mail the next business day. Instructions were to drill out the rivets holding the hinges in place on the middle section and install the new lower section with provided bolts. I asked how much I owe them - NO CHARGE.

That's great. Most answers would have been different. _________________ As you go around in life, make sure you're going the right way. |

Good outfit.
Air Tap did the same for my heat pump in one of our hot water heaters. They replaced the old one absolutely free. I had to buy a new tank ($235) because I couldn't get the coils out of the old unit. The old tanks was about 17 years old anyway. _________________ Ralph

| Received my new ladder parts today and I notice the hinges are no longer cast or what I call pot metal, but rolled steel. Those should last a lifetime + |
